We hear all of the time that there are more men in sports than women, but often it is an overlooked topic.
How many men athletes do we have versus women athletes at SRU?
Additionally, how many more scholarships are given out to men than to women in sports at Slippery Rock University?
For my data visualization project, I want to take a look at how many more men's sports we have at SRU and how the scholarship money is actually divided between men and women sports. According to this link on Rock Athletics, baseball, football, and both men's and women's basketball are among the top number of scholarships. Of the 548 student athletes at SRU, 311 are women and 237 are men. Even though there are more female athletes, more athletic scholarships are given out to men's sports.
Why is this the case and how has this changed throughout the years?
